ABOUT Jim…

Jim heard the Gospel from his dad and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ one evening on the way home from church when he was six-years-old. He is a father of one beautiful four-year-old little girl, Lula Kate, and the husband of one beautiful young woman, Kayla. He was born 42 years ago in Tampa, Florida and has resided in Texas, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and, for eighteen years now, South Carolina. Jim is the oldest of four siblings and is happy that he gets to worship with his parents and one of his sisters and her family at Ridgewood. He is a graduate of Clemson University (Go Tigers!) where he studied electrical engineering and has worked in that field since 2007.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SERVING AT Ridgewood?

I love being part of a church that is firmly grounded in God’s Word, the Bible, and works to make that Bible known and accessible to the whole congregation. I also enjoy being around so many young brothers and sisters in the Lord who are starting their families and working hard to figure out how to glorify God in their marriages and how to raise their children in the fear and knowledge of the Lord.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE NOT SERVING?

When I’m not serving, I’m likely watching YouTube videos about AutoCAD, Jordan Peterson, or the ancient civilizations that built the megalithic structures around the world (aliens?). I also like following the sport of Politics (favorite team: Whig Party!) and re-reading my favorite science fiction and fantasy books (newer ones don’t seem to interest me). 

FAVORITE BOOK?

Just one? That’s too hard. The Discipline of Grace (Jerry Bridges), Desiring God (John Piper), The Great Divorce (C.S. Lewis; I could include half his corpus), Ender’s Game (Orson Scott Card)

WHAT IS YOUR CLAIM TO FAME?

I’m not sure if it has made me famous, but I do seem to have a knack for knowing just enough trivia about topics to be dangerous or give the impression of being informed about a thing. I also use longer words, when simpler ones would do. I am the least successful Instagram influencer in the history of the platform.
